Obituary for Jennie E. Kauffman:
KAUFMANN BROTHERS ATTEND SISTER'S RITES
Fostoria---Five brothers, the oldest of whom is 84 and the youngest 65, were brought together here recently upon the death of their sister, Mrs. Jennie Reinhart, 68, Springville, Ohio, 10 miles south of Fostoria. The three oldest were born in Belgium, and two youngest in Perry County, Indiana. The oldest is Peter, 84, born in Belgium March 16, 1855. He has lived in Alvada since 1878 and worked as a stone mason. Next is John Nicholas, 80, born in Belgium December 10, 1859, who now resides in the Old Folk Home at Fostoria. He is the only bachelor of the brothers and was in the lumber business until his retirement. Next is Victor, 78, born in Belgium April 6, 1861. He lives at 436 McDougal Street, and is a blacksmith. Next is Eli, 70, born in Perry County, Indiana, a farmer. He now lives at Tell City, Indiana. Next is John F., 65, born in Perry County, Indiana, a farmer, who now lives at Tell City.
There were nine children in the Kaufmann family, three of the brothers and Mrs. Reinhart having died. Their parents were the late John and Susan Kaufmann, who came to this country from Belgium and settled in Indiana. They landed in New York, going on to Cleveland, then by river boat to Cincinnati, reaching Thompson's Landing in Perry County July 4, 1867.
With the exception of John Nicholas, all the Kaufmann children married, having sons who are priests, attorneys and educators. The family name also has been spelled Kauffman.
