Immigration note: The Kauffmans came to this country from Belguim and settled in Indiana. They landed in New York, going on to Cleveland, then by river boat to Cincinnati, reaching Thompson's Landing in Perry County July 4, 1867. The family settled in Leopold, Indiana.
