John C. Wurm, farmer, of Carrothers, Ohio, was born in Venice Township, Seneca County on April 13, 1848. He's the son of John Christian Wurm and Hannah Lehman, who were among the pioneers of this county; coming here from Germany in 1833. John was the eldest of a family of six children. He was reared on the farm in Venice Township, attending the district school.

When John was twenty years old, he commenced to learn the carpenter's trade,and has since continued to work at same in partnership with his brother Matthias. He also carried on the farm which is well improved, consisting of nearly two hundred acres of good land.

John was married May 4, 1875 to Philomena Falter, daughter of John B. Falter and Margaret Steinmetz. The family were members of the Catholic church. Politically, John Wurm was a democrat. The children of John and Philomena (Falter) Wurm:

1. Mary Josephine (b. 18 Mar 1876 d. 8 Jul 1937)
2. Martha Cecelia (b. 20 Nov 1877 d. 23 Mar 1946) married 28 Nov 1906 to Fredolin Buchman
3. Clemons A. (b. 1 Jan 1880 d. 16 Mar 1908)
4. Lawrence Joseph (b. 11 Aug 1882 d. 15 May 1952) married Eleanor Gerhardstein
5. Marguerite Hannah (b. 13 Apr 1884 d. 12 Apr 1940) married Alvin Aicholz
6. Ida Regina (b. 25 Apr 1886 d. 26 Sep 1968) married Louis Gerdeman
7. Dora Irene (b. 19 Feb 1888 d. 10 Mar 1960) married 24 Apr 1908 to Otto Gerhardstein.

Children to Share John Wurm Estate

Will of John Wurm, who died January 30 near St. Stephen, was filed Saturday in probate court. The document directs equal division among his children, Mary Josephine Wurm, Ida R. Gerdeman, Hannah M. Aicholz, Martha C. Buchman, Dorthea E. Gerhardstein, and Lawrence J. Wurm of his stock in the Carrara Marble Company.

Two daughters, Mary Josephine and Mrs. Gerdeman are given household goods; Mary Josephine is given $1,500, Mrs. Gerdeman $50, and Martha C. Buchman and Hannah M. Aicholz $1,500 share and share alike. A Venice Township farm is given to Mary Josephine and Mrs. Gerdeman and another farm to Hannah M. Aicholz. Martha C. Buchman and Dorothea E. Gerhardstein share and share alike upon condition that they pay the appraised price to the estate.

St. Stephen's church is given $200 for masses. The will was made May 31, 1934 and named Mary Josephine and son Lawrence as executors. A codicil dated December 3, 1937 gives the share of Mary Josephine, who died after the original will was made, to daughters Mrs. Buchman, Mrs. Aicholz, Mrs. Gerdeman, and Mrs. Gerhardstein share and share alike.
