I wanted to tell you a little about myself and what qualifications I have in the field of Genealogy. I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, California and joined the United States Air Force at the age of 22.
My family has always been interested in Genealogy but I never really was, seemed like too much work. Little did I know what my future had in store for me.
I met my lovely wife, Lisa, while stationed in California and it turned out that she was interested in Genealogy but didn't really know how to start. There was very little information in book form to help us and we stumbled around libraries and history centers without much success. I've been involved professionally with computers and the Internet for over 10 years now. One night I sat down and using Netscape 1.0 started hunting around for information about her ancestors. I found a wonderful site, Reinhart Genealogy Page, which is one of her major surnames. It turned out that this site had extensive information about her direct ancestors and I got excited for her. I showed her the site the next day and away we went.
I haven't thought about using the Internet for research and on a whim logged on and did a little search for some of my own ancestors. Uh oh, the bug is approaching. I found out that my g-g-g-grandfather was an Indian interpreter for the Mormon Prophet Bringham Young and that his son was shot as a horse thief. Humm, I thought, that's interesting. Careful, the bug is closer. Some more searching revealed my g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-grandfather was banished by the King of England and sailed to America in 1635. Wow, that's cool! OUCH! What was that??
That started my long (and time-consuming) love affair with Genealogy. I've been fortunate to travel both the United States and Europe with the Air Force and have learned how to conduct research both on and off the Internet. I feel I can help people at all levels of experience learn a thing or two and that's why this section exists.
Well, enough about me, let's get started.
