Another important section is the Family Tree area. This section is devoted to family records that have been submitted by others who share a passion for genealogy. Usually it's their own research that they want to share in the hopes of connecting with others researching the same lines as they are. There is a great deal of information here and can lead you to other sources of information.
Here you will find the option of downloading a genealogy family tree program directly from their site, plus links giving you a tutorial on how to use it and share the results with others.
The last section I will discuss is the Message Boards area. This is an area where you can search (and also post) messages devoted to a particular surname or location. This is especially useful because if you are looking for the surname 'Purser', you don't have to wade thru mounds of messages unrelated to your topic of interest. We've found some valuable information and made some wonderful new friends thru message boards. It's a great way of trading information and gathering tips on how to conduct genealogical research from people who are experienced in this field.
There are other areas to explore and increase your knowledge of genealogy then what I've discussed here. Take some time and see what you can find, then go to visit other sites as well. Each one has different formats and sections for you to learn about and interact with.
